Making a lifetime of memories

You might say Captain Ed Menster has manatees and fishing running through his veins. A lifelong Florida resident, Captain Ed fished the waters of Pensacola with his Father as a young boy in the 1970’s, often times pulling in prize catches bigger than he was! He moved to South Florida as a teenager, and spent time on the waters there fishing with his Uncle, who was a champion racer running regattas from South Florida to the Bahamas. The first time he saw a manatee in a canal in South Florida, he fell in love with those chubby mermaids, and the rest is history!

His love of the water led him to enlist in the United States Coast Guard, where he was stationed in St. Petersburg and later Yankeetown in the late 1980’s. He loved fishing the inshore flats and back country near Crystal River as well as snorkeling with our resident gentle giants in their own habitat, and decided Citrus County would be his forever home. Captain Ed quickly made a name for himself winning several tournaments in the area. Our pristine mangrove keys hold a wide variety of fish, and a day out on Captain Ed’s 24-foot Carolina Skiff or custom houseboat swimming with manatees is a day you won’t soon forget! Few places in the world can support a year-round fishery as fertile and plentiful as the one here in Citrus County, and he is proud to share our little slice of heaven with his valued clients! And Citrus County is the ONLY place in the world where you can passively observe these beautiful creatures in their own natural habitat.

In 2010 Captain Ed decided to make his part time passion into his full-time career. He has helped thousands of visitors to the crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico experience what drove him to the ocean.
